Children have a fascination with small animals, if they are not lucky enough to have a pet of their own they love to make a fuss of animals belonging to friends and neighbours.  Very young children will point to a ‘doggie’ in the park, or a ‘pussy cat’ visiting the garden.  Their first attempts at drawing will often A pet doginclude a scribble proudly entitled ‘Spot’.  However, as they reach the age where they recognise that their inexpert interpretation of a pet does not match up with their favourite animal, they can quickly become discouraged.

Many adults still feel that desperate sinking feeling when asked to draw even a simple object.  It takes you back immediately to the classroom, with a ‘helpful’ class mate making derisory comments about your attempts to draw.  At this point many people give up.  A breed of “I can’t draw a straight line” adults is created.  It does not have to be like that.

Drawing should be easy and fun – it is not a win or lose contest.  With help and encouragement your child can grow in confidence - Easy Art For Kids can provide that assistance.

The Easy Art For Kids CD-Rom is very easy to use and even the least able adult will be able to help their child produce simple two-dimensional drawings. There are print out sheets with step-by-step instructions that can be used again and again, plus backgrounds for your child to add their own drawings.  The equipment needed is simple, just a pencil and rubber (eraser) to begin with, then crayons, colouring pencils or felt-tip pens for colouring in.  A set of paints can be added later, however, be prepared for the inevitable mess – the water pot always gets knocked over!  If you want to extend the play value and have time to supervise your child, then add some scissors and glue so their coloured pictures of animals can be stuck to the background provided, or to a background of their own making.

Children also love to do this as a group activity, with each child adding their own animals to the background. With plenty of praise and encouragement from you, your child will soon be producing recognisable animals and having a lot of fun in the process. Why not have a go?
